Alexander McQueen
In 1992, former tailor and Central St Martins graduate Lee Alexander McQueen founded his luxury label, Alexander McQueen, which became known for his ground-breaking architectural designs and precision cutting, and is still recognised for its skull motif and tartan prints. In 2001, luxury group Kering acquired the brand. McQueen, one of the most celebrated designers of his generation, died in 2010. Sarah Burton was appointed as the fashion house’s creative director – a role she held until 2023. Seán McGirr has been creative director since October 2023.
