Depop
Reselling app Depop was founded in 2011 by Simon Beckerman and is a social ecommerce platform with a similar layout to Instagram. In 2021 Depop was acquired by Etsy for $1.6bn (£1.23bn). The app specialises in selling vintage and rare second-hand pieces, with a focus on Y2K and 1990s trends – so much so that Depop is credited with the Y2K revival in 2020. In March 2024, it announced that it was removing its 10% seller fee for users and replaced it with a 5% marketplace fee for buyers.
