Ebay

Founded in 1995 in San Jose, California, Ebay was one of the first global online marketplaces. Initially known for auctions and selling second-hand goods peer to peer, Ebay has since expanded into new and branded fashion segments. It hosts millions of listings daily, serving nearly 190 countries. It listed on the Nasdaq in 1988 and, as of February 2024, Ebay’s market capitalisation was $22.5bn (£16.89bn), with annual revenues of $10.1bn (£7.58bn) and net profits of $2.7bn (£2.02bn). In recent years it has supported small businesses and pre-loved fashion. Ebay started sponsoring ITV reality TV show Love Island in 2022.
