Hawes and Curtis
British heritage brand Hawes & Curtis was founded in 1913 by Ralph Hawes and George Frederick Curtis. Since its launch, members of the royal family including the Duke of Windsor and Lord Mountbatten have been known to wear items such as collared shirts and blazers, and it has been awarded with four royal warrants. Hawes & Curtis was the original creator of the backless evening waistcoat, which was inspired by the Duke of Windsor, while also specialising in tailored clothing and accessories for men and women. The British brand has 29 stores and a direct-to-consumer website. The current owner is business entrepreneur and the BBC’s Dragons’ Den star Touker Suleyman, who bought the business for £1, taking on the brand’s debts and liabilities.
