Hobbs
Hobbs was founded in Hampstead, north London, in 1981 by Yoram and Marilyn Anselm as a shoe retailer before expanding into women’s clothing in 1986, and is now known for its premium women’s workwear and occasionwear. Since 2017 it has been owned by South Africa’s The Foschini Group (TFG), which integrated it into a portfolio that includes Whistles and Phase Eight. A store at Manchester’s Trafford Centre opened in autumn 2024, as Hobbs’ 63rd standalone UK location. TFG secured a £90m refinancing facility in April 2024 to support its growth strategies. It operates in the US and Germany as concessions, and in Dubai and Sweden under franchises, as well as having an online store serving 55 countries worldwide.
