House of Fraser
House of Fraser was founded in 1849 in Glasgow, and at its peak operated 59 stores across the UK and Ireland. In August 2018, Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group bought House of Fraser out of administration for £90m. By 2024, store numbers decreased to 25, and the group planned to close or convert all remaining locations into Frasers. In August 2024, the House of Fraser website and app were rebranded as Frasers. Recent closures include Bluewater in December 2024 and Darlington in May 2025. Frasers Group is focusing on smaller, more profitable stores and has opened new Frasers in Sheffield and Maidstone.
