Joules

Joules was founded in 1989 in Market Harborough by Tom Joule, who began selling colourful countrywear at outdoor events. The brand launched its own clothing line in 1999, opened its first store in 2000, and introduced Little Joule and Baby Joule in 2008 and 2009, respectively. By 2018, Joules had more than 120 UK stores and had expanded into homeware. In November 2022, Joules went into administration. Next, in partnership with Joule, bought Joules for £34m in December 2022, taking a 74% stake and preserving 1,450 jobs and 100 stores. Joules now lists 56 stores on its website and operates on Next’s Total Platform.
