The high street accessories chain, which ceased trading<\/a> earlier this week (27 April), is expected to open around 50 new stores via its European operator, The Guardian <\/em>reports.<\/p>\n

Julien Jarjoura, French entrepreneur and owner of Claire’s in Europe, operates the retailers stores across markets such as France, Austria, Portugal and Spain.<\/p>\n

Jarjoura told the newspaper that he has “the blessing” of Ames Watson, the US owner of the Claire’s brand, to open new stores in the UK.<\/p>\n

It is understood Jarjoura is in the process of signing new leases with UK landlords.<\/p>\n

He also told the newspaper that he had hired a number of former Claire’s executives in the UK and plans to keep open “some” of its 356 concessions, despite not having taken on its head office in Birmingham or bought any stock from administrators at Kroll.<\/p>\n

The business is understood to be “debt-free” and funded by Jarjoura moving forward.<\/p>\n

Drapers has reached out to Claire’s in Europe, Ames Watson and administrators at Kroll for further comment.<\/p>\n

This comes after Claire’s 154 stores in the UK and Ireland shuttered<\/a> on Monday, resulting in 1,300 redundancies.<\/p>\n

The retailer collapsed<\/a> into administration for the second time in six months<\/a> in January, and just four months after it was\u00a0rescued<\/a>\u00a0by Modella Capital in September.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
