Matchesfashion
Luxury retailer Matchesfashion was established in 1987 by Tom and Ruth Chapman in Wimbledon as a boutique and launched its ecommerce platform in 2007. In 2017, private equity firm Apax Partners bought the company for £800m, and invested £60m in 2023 to support a turnaround led by CEO Nick Beighton, former CEO of Asos. In December 2023, Frasers Group bought the business for £52m but placed it into administration in March 2024, resulting in 273 job losses and the closure of its three London stores.
