Following today's (21 April) news that Primark owner Associated British Foods (ABF) will be separating the fashion retailer from its food business, retail analysts are in two camps over whether the move makes sense for the value fashion retailer.

Associated British Foods (ABF) has confirmed its decision to spin off  Primark into a separately listed business, as the Dublin-based value retailer reported a double-digit decline in interim profits amid continued investment and a challenging consumer backdrop.

Primark parent company Associated British Foods (ABF) is expected to update on if the potential separation of the fashion retailer from its food business is getting the green light, alongside its interim results, next week (21 April).
