Online marketplace Temu offers ultra‑cheap fashion, electronics, home goods and toys via third‑party sellers. Temu was launched in September 2022 in the US by PDD Holdings, has rapidly expanded into the UK, European Union, Australia and South Africa, reaching 49 markets by early 2024. After major Super Bowl advertising in 2024, Temu amassed more than 130 million app downloads and 100 million active US users. Facing US tariffs, it pivoted heavily to Europe in 2025, boosting ad spend in the UK, France and Germany where European spend grew 62% year on year in May 2025.
